Like all humans, I wish to be loved, to be happy, and to be free from suffering. Yet the realness of life brings messiness and pain around each of these basic human desires. I practice and teach mindfulness and mindful self-compassion with the hope of helping individuals and the community experience greater self-love, contentment, and freedom to authentically be themselves. Sometimes we can find we have parts of ourselves or parts of our lives that we don’t like or wish were different. With mindfulness and self-compassion, we learn to be with and turn toward ourselves or our circumstances rather than simply powering through. We consider what we need right now, from kindness and gentleness to motivation or protection. In this way, we can begin to practice noticing and meeting whatever we’re in the midst of right now, the best we can, in the same way we might support a dear friend who was experiencing something similar.
As a student of somatic practice, I also employ mindful movement to foster greater body awareness, presence, and trust in my classes. My hope is that as we learn to nourish ourselves with kindness, we enhance our capacity to extend that same nourishment to others.

What People Are Saying
Here in the Puget Sound region, I live on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people as a result of colonialism. I am grateful for the leadership, presence, and stewardship the Coast Salish tribes continue to provide over this beautiful region we all call home.
